LEARN, LOVE & LIVE JESUS

Southside Methodist Blog

Jesus declared, 'I am the light of the world.' This statement offers profound hope in a world filled with spiritual darkness. This isn't merely about physical illumination but about a transformative power that changes our entire existence. From the very beginning of creation, light existed before the sun and moon because Jesus Himself is that original light—the source of true, abundant life.

Have you ever been lost? That feeling of panic, worry, and stress that comes when you don’t know where you are or how to get back to safety is overwhelming. Even if it only lasts for a few minutes, it can feel like hours.

This experience of being lost and then found parallels our spiritual journey. Without proper guidance, we’re vulnerable, like sheep without a shepherd. At Southside Methodist Church in Jacksonville, we believe that Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd, is the One who rescues and leads us.

In our fast-paced world, we often seek life from many sources, relationships, achievements, possessions, yet find ourselves still thirsting for something more. Jesus offers a profound solution through a simple agricultural metaphor: "I am the vine, you are the branches."

In a world full of noise and competing voices, it can be challenging to discern which voice to follow. We're constantly bombarded with messages from social media, news, friends, and countless other sources. Each one vies for our attention and loyalty, pulling us in different directions.

Out of Sunday’s message, “I Am the Gate,” we’ve created a 5-Day Devotional to help you reflect and engage with God’s Word all week long. Each day gives you a Scripture passage, a short reflection, and a practical step to live out your faith.
