Wednesdays just go better! 

Midweek Southside makes the middle of your week a little easier and a lot more meaningful.

Beginning at 4:30 PM, children can arrive for an afternoon filled with movement, games, music, friendship, and age-appropriate faith conversations. Then, at 5:45 PM, families and neighbors come together around the table for an affordable Family Dinner.

After dinner, children, students, and adults can stay for groups, classes, choir, and opportunities to connect and grow.

Kids come for the afternoon. Families meet us for dinner. Everyone stay for a group.

Dinner is served!

One of our favorite parts of Midweek Southside is simply getting everyone around the table together. There will be plenty of good conversation, familiar faces, new friends, and one less dinner for you to cook this week.

Family Dinner begins at 5:45 PM and everyone is welcome.

Dinner is $5 per person with a $20 family maximum. Pay online at smcjax.org/giveand select Wednesday Night Dinner, scan the QR code, or pay with cash at dinner.

Grab a plate. Find a seat. Stay awhile.

A place to ask questions, build relationships, and explore faith. Alpha is a welcoming space for anyone who wants to explore the big questions of life, faith, and Jesus in a relaxed and conversational setting.

You do not need any church background or prior Bible knowledge. Just come as you are, bring your questions, and join the conversation.

Calling all Southside Kids Sunday School leaders and volunteers, Student Life Group leaders, and Youth Council members!

Join us Wednesday, September 9 at 6:30 PM in the Boy Scout Room upstairs in the Children’s Building for a hands-on introduction to Amazing+.

We’ll walk through what Amazing+ is, how the curriculum works, and how you can confidently use the resources as you lead and serve our kids and students this fall.

Whether you volunteer every week, lead a Life Group, or help support our ministries behind the scenes, this training will help us begin the season prepared.

MOVE ON UP! Promotion Sunday is September 13! 

A brand-new year of Southside Kids begins Sunday, September 13, and we’re celebrating in a BIG way!

Join us beginning at the 9:00 AM worship service as we recognize some special milestones in the lives of our Southside Kids and Students. We’ll present Bibles to our third graders and Confirmation students and introduce them to the congregation as we celebrate the next steps in their faith journeys.

Then it’s time to MOVE UP! Kids will head into their new Sunday School classes for the year, meet their leaders, and officially kick off a brand-new season together.

And there’s even more: Amazing+ officially launches! Our new curriculum will help connect what children and students are learning at church with conversations and discipleship at home.

New classrooms. New adventures. New ways to grow in faith. Let’s make it an AMAZING year!

SURF’S UP!

Men, come hit the beach, learn to surf, and fellowship together. 

Join Southside Men on Saturday, September 26 from 8:00 AM–Noon for a morning at the beach learning to surf. Boards and lessons are included, so all you need to bring are your baggies, a towel, and a willingness to give it a shot!

Along with plenty of time in the water, we’ll share a guided activity and conversation connecting what we experience on the waves with our faith, our lives, and the way we follow Jesus.

Cost: $25. Space is limited, so grab your spot early.

THE PUMPKINS ARE COMING! 

Cue the pumpkin spice, fall fun, and one of our favorite Southside traditions. The Southside Pumpkin Patch is almost here!

The pumpkin truck arrives Saturday, September 26 around 9:00 AM, and everyone is invited to the Pumpkin Unloading Party. Bring the kids, grab some gloves, invite a friend, and come help us transform the Point into a sea of amazing orange pumpkins and fun!

The Pumpkin Patch is a Southside Students-led ministry, and we need our whole church family behind them. Students and adult volunteers are needed not only for unloading day, but also for shifts throughout the season as we welcome families from across our community.

Come for the pumpkins. Stay for the fun. Help us welcome Jacksonville to Southside this fall.
